Flawless Ivy Oil-free Foundation

It’s another Foundation Review!! I asked a while back on my Instastories what brands of foundation I could review and a few people requested  Flawless Ivy. Recently, I was invited for the launch of their retail store in Surulere Lagos, and I was gifted two of their foundations. I’m always delighted to test out foundations to see how they work well for my oily skin especially in this HOT Lagos. I actually had a really nice time at the launch and the highlight for me was the FOOD!! Lol! I’m not so much of a foodie but when the food is good I’m happy!

A quick background of the brand, Flawless Ivy is a Nigerian Makeup brand with about 3 types of foundation and other categories of products. I got their Full Coverage Liquid Foundation and this one I’m about to review.

Flawless Ivy Oil-free FoundationThere are 6 shades in their shade range and I got matched to the last shade – Ebony. Ebony isn’t my exact shade but going a shade up would have been too light for me. So I stuck with this one. I tested out this foundation three times because I wanted to feel certain about the review I’d give.

This Flawless Ivy Oil-free foundation is a thick, matte, medium coverage foundation that can be built up to full coverage. It comes in a 20ml tube which is less than the average foundation size. The foundation comes with a pump which makes application easier and more hygienic. Ebony is quite orange on me and slightly darker than I prefer but I know highlighting and contouring always brings back the balance. The foundation claims to be waterproof but to be honest, I didn’t test out that claim. All I was after really is how well it covered my scars and held up in hot weather.Flawless Ivy Oil-free Foundation

Flawless Ivy Oil-free FoundationI’m pretty impressed with this foundation being that it’s from a Nigerian brand. It made my skin really smooth and was able to conceal my spots well. As I mentioned, it’s medium coverage but it’s easily buildable and conceals spots well. Using the right brush also makes the difference. I used my Lancome brush which is quite dense so blending was easy for me.

This foundation really held up through the day. It controls oil so well it amazing. Five hours, I had not touched up and my skin looked slightly oily. Only a matte foundation will really do that for oily skin. In fact, the last time I wore it (pictures below), I went home without touching up at all.Flawless Ivy Oil-free Foundation

Flawless Ivy Oil-free FoundationOne thing I noticed is, it’s not very long lasting and this is compared to my other foundations. I don’t know if it’s unfair to compare this to high-end foundations. Anyway,  I suspect it has something to do with it being quite sheer. After about 7/8 hours, it began to wear out and I could see my spots around my mouth area again. Also, I really hope they expand their shade range as well as it’s a good foundation but it may be difficult to find your shade. This foundation retails for 2,500Ngn and you can purchase from their website or any of their physical stores around Lagos

For the price point and beacuse it’s oily girl friendly, this is a pretty good foundation worth getting.
