Skin lovin’ | Clarins Toning Lotion, Combination or oily skin

Hi Guys!!!

Happy Mid week (I think i’m beginning to say that quite a lot now).

How have you been and your skin? I hope glowing and acne free maybe?

I know it was about time I did a review of this toner after my much ranting (on instagram) about how amazing this toner has been to my skin. I received a mail sometime ago about a promo running on the Clarins brand and so I decided to purchase their toner. I actually had stopped using my  Simple Kind to Skin Soothing Facial Toner for some time now as over time I was getting oilier than I wanted to be during the day. (I mean, who wants to be looking like a grease ball?) In fact, somewhere in my mind, I had given up on using toners in my morning skincare routine but I decided to introduce myself to the Clarins brand by using this toner.

The Clarins Toning Lotion, Combination or oily skin is said to be a ‘lotion rich in soothing and purifying plant extracts which tightens pores and refreshes the skin. Dematologically tested’  On the website it’s described as an ‘Alcohol-free toner — with purifying Iris and Sage extracts — removes every last trace of cleanser, leaving oily-prone skin pristine-clean and perfectly radiant. Tones and tightens pores while helping normalize surface oils. Preps skin for the Clarins treatments to follow.’

Ingredients.

Alpha-Glucan Oligosaccharide, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Benzyl Benzoate, Benzyl Salicylate, Crataegus Monogina Flower Extract, CI 19140/Yellow 5, CI 42090/Blue 1, Citric Acid, Disodium EDTA, Glucose, Glycerin, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Hexyl Cinnamal, Hydroxycitronellal, Iris Florentina Root Extract, Limonene, Linalool, Methylisothiazolinone, Oleth-20, Panthenol, Parfum/Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate, Psidium Guajava Fruit Extract, Propylene Glycol, Retinyl Palmitate, Silica, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Citrate, Sorbic Acid, Water, Zinc Sulfate.

Review

Babes, In a nutshell, this toner is the best thing that has happened to my skin care routine. Okay, let me go into the juicy details.

I was delighted when I saw that it contains 200ml / 6.8FL.OZ of liquid. I will be able to use it for quite some time and it’s really what encouraged me to buy it.  The toning lotion is a slightly green liquid that comes in a plastic transparent bottle. It smells like baby powder and I’m not mad at the fact that it has a fragrance because of the wonders it has done for my skin the short while I’ve used it. First, I noticed that my skin got less sensitive to the sun, to heat and dust. I remember my skin being very itchy and irritated when I stayed too long under the sun, in dry cold air and in dusty areas.

It’s quite refreshing and your face feels fresh when you first apply it and stays that way for hours. I’m quite glad it doesn’t contain alcohol because I definitely wouldn’t have bought it. Another thing I noticed later on was that it began to tone (even out) my complexion. My skin became brighter, discoloration and dark spots have started fading out. All my spots aren’t gone yet but I can see them fading off gradually.

When I bought this toner, I didn’t really buy it to treat my large pores but as I used it, I noticed a decrease in my pore size and my skin literally gets smoother with each application. I think the best part of using this toner is that it doesn’t leave me oily at all which I was most concerned about! I was concerned because it had Glycerin but I just gave it the benefit of doubt and I don’t regret that. I think it’s because it contains witch hazel which helps to reduce oiliness of the skin. It sure does hydrate the skin but does not leave it greasy. Apparently I found myself a winner! I’ve tried lots of toners and I’m really happy this works for me.

I purchased it from the Montaigne place at the Palms Lekki for 10,800naira

Rate: 10/10

Is there anything I don’t like about this toner? Absolutely nothing!

Will I repurchase? YES!!!!

Meanwhile, If your skin doesn’t suffer oiliness or your skin type isn’t oily / combination, Clarins has this type of toner also for people with dry or sensitive skin and those with combination or  dry skin.

What has been your experiences using toners.
