A gentler way to exfoliate with The Ordinary Mandelic Acid*

I’ve been into chemical exfoliation ever since I realized it was my cheat to smoother, brighter skin without scrubbing.  I felt strongly about trying some affordable AHA and BHA products and I tried The Ordinary AHA 30%  and BHA 2% Peeling solution, which I absolutely love. However, because I have sensitive skin, the irritation that comes with using it is no joke. I mentioned this on Instagram and The Beauty Frenzy Shop asked me to try out The Ordinary Mandelic Acid 10% + HA* as it was a much more milder exfloliant for my sensitive skin.

The Ordinary Mandelic Acid 10% + HA offers superficial dermal peeling that is gentler than other alpha hydroxy acids. This larger molecule size allows mandelic acid to penetrate the skin more slowly which in turn makes it very gentle and suitable for all skin types including the most sensitive skin.

Ingredients

Propanediol, Aqua (Water), Mandelic Acid, Glycerin, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Tasmannia Lanceolata Fruit/Leaf Extract, Pentylene Glycol, Polysorbate 20, Sodium Hydroxide, Ethylhexylglycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol.

My Observations.

This solution is a clear, odorless, thin liquid which has the consistency and feel of an oil. The fact that it is odorless is a good start for me. It comes in a 30ml bottle with a dropper as like many of their other products. On application, the Hyaluronic Acid immediately plums my skin making it softer and smoother. I also noticed it glides like an oil but my face feels completely greaseless after about a minute. You don’t have to worry about looking oily if you use this in the mornings.

If you’re familiar with AHAs, you’d know that whether this guy does the job of exfoliation is not even the question at all as Mandelic Acid is known to exfoliate the skin, although mildlyIt’s quite gentle on the skin compared to the AHA & BHA Peeling solution but like any other acid, it shouldn’t be used on broken skin. My skin would feel a bit of tingling if my skin was scarred but the sensation would disappears almost immediately. It also leaves my skin brighter which I really like. If you have a darkened face, you’d know that anything that leaves your skin looking brighter is very desirable.

Overall, I find this solution is very comfortable and ideal for daily use with little to no irritations experienced. The Ordinary Mandelic Acid 10% + HA

Suggested use:

-Use either day / night depending on your preference. If you have sensitive and acne prone skin, DO NOT combine use with high percentages of retinol as it may largely irritate your skin. Also note that using them together will speed up cell turnover and may cause your skin to purge (in form of break outs).

-Go heavy on other hydrants for your skin as this reduces the irritation accompanied with the use of this Acid.

-Also don’t forget to wear sunscreen as product exposes your skin and makes it more sensitive to the sun and prone to sunburn.

Will I purchase when exhausted? Definitely!!!

You can purchase from The Beauty Frenzy Shop for 5,500naira which is quite affordable in my opinion. Also, using the code Sheisnaturallybronze at check out will get you some money off purchases over 10,000naira.

Hi. Sure. so unlike the ordinary AHA and BHA peeling solution, this like i mentioned in my post is milder and is a leave-on exfoliant. Mandelic acid generally is for sensitive skin so it can be used daily (at most once a day). Deciem recommends that it is used ideally in the night as a part of your night time routine. So you cleanse, tone. use this AHA (Which exfoliates) and then continue with the other steps in your routine.

Note that: you shouldn’t scrub your skin as the Acid already does the work the scrub does (exfoliate). Also, for a start and i also recommend this for all starting out with acids, do a patch test to be on the safe side and do not combine with any other stronger peels like the ordinary AHA 30% and BHA 2% peeling solution until you have a hang of chemical exfoliants so you don’t end up irritating your skin. Feel free to reply if you want to know any other thing.

      I hope this helps

I'd love to hear from you!
